Maa durga navratra 2009

First we will see the meaning of navratra . nav means nine and ratra means night.
In Hinduism, Durga (Sanskrit: "the inaccessible" or "the invincible") or Maa Durga (Mother Durga) is a form of Devi, the supreme goddess. Goddess Durga is the mother of Ganesha, Kartikeya. She is thus considered the fiercer, demon-fighting form of Shiva's wife, goddess Parvati.
Nine also a divine number ,nine is a divine shakti. In these nine days we do a puja of nine devis and get blessed by them. Maa durga is a maha shakti who is a goddess of gods. Worshiping of this divine helps us to overcome from our sins. Like in astrology if your rahu period is running, sub period of rahu,or having kaal sarp dosha and you are facing lots of problems like distraction, dipression, not getting favours after doing a lot, changing of place, losses in business, debt etc then you should do or perform puja in these nine days and read durga saptshati and see the result.

These navratra known as sharda navratra and mahanavratra. Why these navratra called as Sharad navratra because it comes in sharad ritu.
These navratra are celebrated because maa durga killed demon mahishasur . this festival is celebrated in most part of India specially east. Maa durga took nine roops to kill demon mahishasur, after nine consequent days and nights it was on tenth day when the demon was killed by maa durga.

2 maa brahmachaarini
3 maa chandrakanta
4 maa kushmaanda
5 skand maa
6 maa kaatyani
7 maa kaalratri
8 maa chamunda
9 maa mahagauri
10 maa sidhiratri
These nine days are the longest festival celebrated in India. People celebrates these nine days with full of joy and happiness. In these specific nine days in the year dandiya nights are organized in which most of the people wear tradition gujrati outfit and they dance on the tunes of dandiya mix.
These nine days also bring more love and attraction between two people in a relationship. so we can also say that these nine days are blessed days for lovers to propose each other.
