The great mantra is dedicated to lord shiva as mrityunjaya is found in the Rig veda. It is called maha mrityunjaya mantra the death conquering mantra. Lord Shiva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being and is considered to be the destroyer of evil and sorrow. Shiva is 'Tri Netra', and is 'Neela Kantha'.
