Shani Amavasya is the no moon day that falls on a Saturday or Shanivar in traditional Hindu calendar. Amavasya is considered inauspicious by many Hindu communities and the fear of Lord Shani is well known. This Amavasya is Falgun Amavasya as per North Indian calendars and Magh Amavasya as per other traditional Hindu Calendars. Shani Amavasya is observed on amavasya day which falls on Sanivar or Saturday. Shani Amavasya date in February 2010 is February 13. The next shani amavasya is falling on 12th june 2010.
Shani Amavasya is keenly followed by people who believe in astrology. Amavasya is also the revered occasion to please the ancestors.
