navratra march 2010
First we will see the meaning of navratra . nav means nine and ratra means night.
In Hinduism, Durga (Sanskrit: "the inaccessible" or "the invincible") or Maa Durga (Mother Durga) is a form of Devi, the supreme goddess. Goddess Durga is the mother of Ganesha, Kartikeya. She is thus considered the fiercer, demon-fighting form of Shiva's wife, goddess Parvati.
Nine also a divine number ,nine is a divine shakti. In these nine days we do a puja of nine devis and get blessed by them. Maa durga is a maha shakti who is a goddess of gods. Worshiping of this divine helps us to overcome from our sins.
Puja vidhi
The Hindu festival of Navratri is celebrated twice a year. The first Navratri of the year is known as Chaitra Navratra, as it falls in March-April. The second Navratri is held in October-November, which coincides Durga Puja. The nights of Navratri are devoted to the reverence of Goddess Durga, who is worshipped in many forms. Prayers are offered to Goddess Durga, as she is considered the manifestation of the absolute energy that pervades the Universe. All through the nine days, a person should chant mantras, sing songs and bhajans in the praise of the deity to get undue benefit from the maa. Fasting on Navratri is considered auspicious. shani amavasya on febuary 13, 2010
Shani Amavasya is the no moon day that falls on a Saturday or Shanivar in traditional Hindu calendar. Amavasya is considered inauspicious by many Hindu communities and the fear of Lord Shani is well known. This Amavasya is Falgun Amavasya as per North Indian calendars and Magh Amavasya as per other traditional Hindu Calendars. Shani Amavasya is observed on amavasya day which falls on Sanivar or Saturday. Shani Amavasya date in February 2010 is February 13. The next shani amavasya is falling on 12th june 2010.
Shani Amavasya is keenly followed by people who believe in astrology. Amavasya is also the revered occasion to please the ancestors. Prayer to Shanidev on this day fulfills ones desires and extinguishes the adverse impact of planetary positions, Dasha, Mahadasha etc. Observation of fast, recital of Strot Mantra, Tailabhishek etc. rites on this date give multiple results. Similarly, rites are also being performed for adverse impacts of planetary positions, family feuds, downfall in business-jobs etc., mental and physical ailments, delay in marriage, sorrows of quarrelsome conjugal relations. People suffering from Pitra Dosh conduct remedial pujas on the day. The day is also considered ideal for performing Sharadh and Tarpan for dead ancestors. Shanidev is the benefactor of Karma, Dharma, fate and Moksha.
Thus, one should concentrate on his or her deed (Karma), instead of cursing the Shanidev. Shanidev never does any harm to anybody out of his own. Rather Shanidev keeps a record of deeds of everybody's deeds, and delivers justice according to it. Thus the Satkarma (right deeds) can deliver the boundless grace of Shanidev and can get the favorable impact of planets. That is why one should pray the Shanidev.
This new moon night is a time to heal obstacle and retarding forces in your life. This shani amavasya is a great occasion to do some reconfiguring of your karmic balances. The positive aspect of amavasya is that the mind being 'absent' (moon=mind), it is capable of being in silent watchful and recording/observing mode when nourished and protected by healing and specific mantras. Mantras are special sound vibration sequences that protect the mind. upai enables an ability to access the spiritual nature in a heightened way. This is because in the absence of the moon's false ego supporting rays one is able to more easily connect with the divine supersoul energies once the upai is done.
Saturn (shani) energies are very powerful to help create spiritual karma--on this occasion if one approaches Sri Shani for his grace through specific mantras, one can receive much benefit in life.
